Lazy Past Self

April 26, 2008

We went to JAM (Jesus and ME) conference for kids this morning. It was super fun. Emily loves being with the other kids. They were nice enough to make an exception for Em to come for a while even though she’s only 2 and the other kids have to be 5 to go. She even won a prize for having the smallest croc clad feet. She was pretty good for a while, but then she got bored and needed to come home. I went to chuck her into bed for a nap and remembered that past self left a nasty mess for future self to clean up later. Lazy past self. This morning when miss Em got us she started yelling. So like a good mom I ignored her for a few minutes and then went in to get her. She kept saying something with her sucky in and I couldn’t understand her.In other news…the sucky is going bye bye on Monday. Anyways back to the past. I made her take out her sucky and she says “I did a pee”. I’m like “of course you did, it was a long night”. Then she said “Mommy will clean it up”. Thats when I noticed the huge wet mark on her sheets. EW. Somehow she got her diaper off inside her pants and pee’d everywhere. Lovely. It’s understandable why past self left me that mess. Unfortunately present self couldn’t make future self do it later and had to deal with messiness pre-nappy. Grr. anyways. Cleaned her up and put her down for a nap. Now I’m contemplating taking a nap too.

I took a lame quality video clip of Emily with my digital camera. She’s scribbling, but we made up a little song for her name, so she’s spelling her name. She thinks Coco is over and wants to give her the picture, but Coco isn’t even there. It’s super cute, so here you go.ok so now it’s taking forever so look at it on my facebook or I’ll add it later.

Be a Go-er

April 25, 2008

I’ve been listening to podcasts by Greg Stier and Rob Kelly and I was really inspired by both of them. I listen to a section of a message from Rob Kelly a couple of times and wrote down what he said because I think that being a GO-er is a big part of who I am. Jesus gave the great commission to us as a purpose for our lives, and I just really liked the way Rob put it, so here it is. Check out the whole message here.

When the neighbor needs help - GO
When someone needs a ride - GO
When there is a culture to be crossed - GO
When someone needs groceries - GO
When there are memories to be made - GO
When the conditions are just right - GO
When you don’t have a clue - GO
When there is a flight to take - GO
When someone is hurt - GO
When the church doors are open - GO
When there is a friendship to be made - GO
When someone needs a hug or a pat on the back - GO
When there is food to eat - GO
When the grandkids are playing a game - GO
When someone is crying - GO
When something is broke grab the duct tape and - GO
When it’s time for a nap - GO
When there is celebrating to be done - GO
If someone asks - GO
If anyone asks - GO
If everyone goes - GO
If no one goes - GO
People need Jesus so Go

My day off

April 25, 2008

It’s weird to be relaxing today. I am in desperate need of a day off, so I declare today is day off day. What I mean by day off day, is only going out this evening, doing laundry, dishes, cleaning up and taking care of Emily. That’s a good day off. Most day we are on the go for the whole day. We barely have time to make anything worth eating and the laundry keeps stacking. I got all gung-ho for flylady earlier this year, but I’m going to have to work at it pretty hard to keep up. Now that my exams are done I’m trying to decide what to do with my summer. No matter what I end up doing, I really want to make it a priority to exercise, make good meals, and spend time being silly with MK and Emily. I was looking at last summer’s beach day pictures, and I’m really hoping we get the chance to spend lots of time at the beach and the park with Emily. I know we will just have to make time.

Emily ended up coming to worship practice with us last night. All our usual babysitters were busy or sick.Normally she isn’t very good at worship practice, and lately she’s been going to bed by 8 or 8:30, so we weren’t expecting her to do that well, but she did great. She fell asleep on the floor behind my drumkit for a while. That’s my girl! then we put on her DVD player and she watched Kronk. She sat on Roxy’s bass amp forever, just feeling the groove. She played in the nursery and whined a bit, but overall she did fantastic. I used to bring her to practice lots when I was on almost every team. She used to play in her playpen or I’d wear her in the backpack while I played bass, but she is just to busy for that anymore. She wants to Go Go Go. Her lip is doing alot better BTW.

Well I think I’m inspired to do some laundry and putter cleanup, so wish me luck. haha.

Bonk

April 17, 2008

Today Emily pulled an Auntie Roxy! For as long as I can remember Roxy has made a point of giving her self fat lips and black eyes just so we’d take her picture. Hmm…Maybe that’s why she hates having her picture taken now. Maybe subconsciously she thinks the camera gives her a black eye…hmm… so Emily has been really enjoying daycare. She comes home ridiculously dirty, but she loves it. Today she had to come home a bit early because we got a call to say she’d bailed and cut her lip. So like any good parents we rushed out to get her and brought her home, and took pictures so she can think she was an abused child later in life. So here’s my little girl with a double fat lip and a swollen nose.

Here’s a pre-bonk Emily enjoying her birthday oatmeal on her actual birthday. We are having a party for her on Saturday, so there’ll be better pics then.
