Free Alcohol Zone

Wow, what a night of Drama. JBAWB (Just a below average white band) opened for Faber Drive tonight. I’m the lead drummer for JBAWB. ok well there isn’t another drummer, but there always gets to be a lead guitar player and a lead singer so I figure I should get to be the Lead Drummer for the Band. The show starts off poorly because the security guard are on this huge power trip and just about wont let me in the stage with my drums. Um hello I’m in the band! Then one of the security guard won’t let one of the guys from Faber Drive inside. Lucky for him I’m standing there and I’m like “He’s in the band too.” So then the sound guy and the tour manage have issues with me using my own kit. AHHH. I told them I refused to play if I couldn’t play my own kit. I got all big and tough about it. Eventually I caved and decided it wasn’t such a big deal. I got to play one of the other bands kits.  The other opening band was called A Single Few. This short little guy was pretty cool enough to let me use his kit. I managed to drag all my cymbals and a couple of sound rings and even my hi-hat up on stage, so it wasn’t too bad, but I really hate playing someone else’s kit. I’ve decided I’m not going to play someone else’s kit for something like that again. I don’t care if it takes 5 minutes longer to set it up.

Ok so that’s the back story. Then the announcers get up on stage and one of them trips over his words and says “this is a no drugs and free alcohol zone” It was sweet we were laughing so hard back stage. Way to tell high schoolers it’s a free alcohol zone. So then we get up to play our set and girls are screaming and everyone is cheering. The smoke is so think I can’t see anything, but the second I hit the bass drum everyone cheers. YAY! That part was fun. I chuck a stick first song into the set. The second song has killer feedback and I only screw up a few more times for the rest of the set. Morgan’s song was the best one we played. Oh and in the last song some chick threw her bra at Tyler, so I died laughing at that too. Big time! Everyone is cheering and yelling encore encore!!

A Single Few gets up to play and they do a pretty good job, but halfway through the last song the power turns off and the lights on the house go up. We are all like “What?” Super tacky. Yay for tacky 100 mile! so I guess the back story is a disagreement over how many final songs A Single Few was going to play. One drummer fingers another bands manager and the show stops dead. Then Faber Drive won’t play until A Single Few leave the hall. How classy is that hey? Roxy and I helped both bands carry their gear out to their vans, and honestly A Single Few was nicer to us about everything. Both bands seemed petty about the whole deal and JBAWB got off looking pretty good. Yay us again. Anyways a few more security guards on power trips later and finally I’m home. And now I’m going to bed. k love you bye.
