Half of a Birthday

Its been a few days since Hot Coffee came into our family. My mom bought Emily a doll last week. Em is really starting to show her creativity. She named her doll “Hot Coffee”. Strange, I know, but shes only 18 months old. What really would be a better name. Im glad she didnt name it Mommy or Booger. She says “Hot Coffee eyes. Hot coffee nose. Nice Hot Coffee”. Its stinking cute.

Today Em is 18 Months old. Its bizaro how fast she has turned into a toddler. No more baby baby stuff. Im going to try and give you snippets of what she is like right now. Well not “Right” now. She’s sleeping. Which is something she does for about 14 hours a night. Hooray! She only has one nap and Mommy love it when its about 3 hours.

She eats “Cheeerios” or “Oatneel Oatneel” for breakfast. She has refused to take a bottle since before the summer. So she has “Nook”(milk) or water in a sippy cup. She is still a sucky baby. haha. I just re-read that sentence. I ment soother baby. haha. Except she only gets the soother in her crib.

She loves reading more than anything. I am always on the lookout for cheap cardboard books for her. She doesnt rip the paper ones as much anymore, but she’s a little rough on them if she reads them by herself. We just got her some last week. We needed to save some sanity in our house. I couldnt read “Going on a Bear Hunt” or “Happy and you know it” one more time. AHHHH. It was making my crazy, but I promised myself Id make time to read to her over an over and over.

Singing is an all day experiance at our house. Emily makes up songs. They usually consist of “Mommy Mommy Mommy bum bum sippy  bubba booger puppy woof woof chicken”. Just an average song she sings. haha. Morgan and I sing to Emily alot. I cant even count all the songs she knows. It’s super fun when she starts singing along. Right now she loves “Down by the bay” and “This little light of mine”. “Happy and you know it” is still the most requested song.

One thing we have learned is that Emily can’t sit still. I know, brilliant observation from a Mom of a toddler. Right. But it’s true. It’s hard to realize untill you spend 5 minutes with her. She goes and goes and goes. She is working on “In and Out” and all those kind of opposites. She says “Opsit hot cold”. Its cute. I didnt know she was even figuring those out. Smart Em. But basically it meaans we sit on the floor and put stuff in the bin, then dump it. Then repete 400 times a day. Or my least favorite is putting sox on her bear then taking them off. 400 times a day.

Getting a jacket on is a fight, but Em still really loves walking. She had a huge meltdown before bed the other night cause I wouldnt take her for a walk . Walking and Music are Emilys calming mechanisms. She chills right out. its cool

I could probably type forever about all the stuff Emily is learning, but there is a snippet for you. She’s just really cute ok! We dont have a program for making pictures smaller right now. So agin you will have to go look at my Facebook to see the pics we took of Em last week. Sorry. Ill try to fix that soon.

Wow what an amazing gift! I am so envious of the 400 times you pull socks off and on. I realize I may not remember this so fondly if we ever have our own… but bless you and your wonderful family! What a special gift. You planning on making more? Lol?

awe, I love that Emily and Silas both love singing so much. Silas doesn’t make up his own songs so much as put his own words into old songs. The other day it was
“baa baa black pizza have you any pizza *mumbles* ONE for my ma-pizza…”

You’re such a good mommy for putting socks on 400 times.

Seikashaven - you have to file those things away for a later date, and remind yourself 400 tomes that its helping your toddler learn opposites.

Pluckymama- I love that Silas adds “Pizza” to his songs. Emily sat down to an amazing turkey dinner and said “Pizza!” and then got sad because there was no Pizza. haha

Ooooh - I wish you lived closer - I want to hang with Ems … and you!
