Emily and the Winner

August 14, 2007

Sooo tired. Caaan’t sleep. grr. I should be napping right now while Emily is sleeping, but I cant. I just stared at my ceiling for a while then gave up. We went to a friends house for a campfire last night and stayed up too late, but that was ok. Then when I got home I couldn’t fall asleep. I think I dozed off at like 4:30 or something. At least the campfire was super relaxing. The last couple of weeks have been go go go go, so it was nice to just chill out and enjoy the night. Yay hooray for being able to get a babysitter last minute.

So I go in to wake Emily up this morning because she is going to go with me to staff meeting. Bye the time I got there she was already awake. Standing there in her crib with NO clothes on. Diaper gonzo! not good not good! panic! This is gonna be gross. I guess this was just a warning for next time. No messes to clean up. YAY! She must have only taken the diapey off in the few minutes before I got her or we would have had issues. I thought she had managed to get all her clothes off, but I guess the sitter put her down in just a diaper cause there wasn’t a sleeper to be found. Whew. Takes me back. Apparently my parents called me Houdini baby and had to pin my sleepers on backwards to keep me in them. Please no baby finger painting! NOOOO!

We went to the garlic festival on the weekend. It was pretty fun. Morgan cached in one of his triple dog dares to get me to eat a spicy clove of garlic. It was ok at first cause I like garlic, but after a sec my mouth was on fire!!!! Then I didn’t feel so good. My stomach was like “You jerk!”. so We went to another concession and got some delicious ribbettes and a big bottle of water for me to down. I think I probably still smell like garlic 2 days later. healthy though. I tried a garlic Jelly Bean. It was good. Maybe not my snack of choice, but good none the less.

We took Emily to see the Llamas. LLAMA FACE!!(sorry couldn’t help myself - Emperors new groove - See it!) She loves them. There was this “winner” standing out side the petting cage smoking with serious 80’s Ray bans. I was talking to the petting zoo guy about the pictures they offer. I said “could she get her picture taken with a sheep or something”. About then the “winner” pipes up.”Thats a llama!”. I was like “um duh. I meant the sheep over there. The one that looks like a sheep”. Ok I didn’t say that, but I wanted too. I wanted to be like”Actually it’s an alpaca, Mr. Winner”.

He then gets his little girl who is about 4 or 5 to come out and they walk away with him blowing smoke all around her. I cant really handle that. They know stuff now that they didn’t years ago. Nobody thought second hand smoke was bad before, but it IS! I so wanted to be like “Um Mr. Winner. Your damaging your daughters lungs and I hope she sues you when she gets older!”. Sorry. I just get frustrated by people whose habits effect kids. Its dumb. It should be considered child abuse to smoke in your car with the windows up and kids or babies in the car. It would be if you put any other kind of smoke or gas in there for them to breathe. Done ranting. Sorry

Heres a couple of pictures of Em and the Alpaca/sheep/llama/elephant.

Time Passes.

August 9, 2007

2 hours later she is fast asleep and here I am. Yay! After breaky Em and I went for a walk. We walked our Horse Lake Road to where my Mom works to drop something off. It was mostly an uphill walk, but every step counts right? When we got there my Mom was just heading out for lunch. Yay! I love to get treated to lunch. When I don’t make it I’m happy. So then I proceeded to do the most illegal thing with Emily we’ve done since Jaywalking almost every day. Emily got her first ride in the Safari. Beautiful car that is is. Its old so it doesn’t have seat belts in it. Technically its legal to drive without them because it didn’t come with them. I still think we would have gotten busted though cause I’m pretty sure they have bigger issues with babies riding without seat belts. For the record we were going to drive a distance of 3 blocks. I figure the speed limit is slow so I decided not to waste my moms whole lunch hour walking back. Wow I’m starting to sound worse and worse as a parent. Ok heres where the story gets interesting. What are the chances of meeting a cop in1 minutes drive time? Apparently better than I thought. There he is just sitting there waiting for us. It doesn’t help that we are driving the awesomest car driving by. Lucky for me I had chucked a book on the floor and Emily really wanted it. I let her crouch on the floor and read her book as we drove by. Great now I’m smuggling too. 10 seconds later we pull into the mall and head in for a bite to eat. Thus ending Emily’s first and probably last ride in the Safari (a car 50 years older than her). At least until we figure the whole seatbelt thing out.

I asked my Mom and she says I had a car seat in the safari when I was little(glorified ice cream bucket). I guess it was hooked up to a racing harness that was bolted into the frame. Yeah baby racing girl! Woohoo! There. Now Im done telling my “Im a regular bad parent story”. The funny thing is that my parents generation would have thought me silly to say things like that about driving in cars with kids. That used to be the norm. I’m lucky I was born late enough that they even had car seats(glorified ice cream buckets). Either way its cool that Emily got to ride in the Safari. My parents got married in it and so did Morgan and I. Who knows? 3 for 3? Maybe Em will too. That’d be sweet.

Bloggedy

August 9, 2007

Em is waking up so we’ll see how far we get on todays Bloggy.

Youth last night was good. We are working on some of the new songs. We didn’t actually play them though cause they need a bit more TLC. Plus who can instantly sound as good as delirious? Seriously? Next week we are takin it to the streets. Youth is in the A&W Parkinglot. Heres the story about it on CCLF’s page. 7pm everybody! I’m really looking forward to it. Some summers we do youth in the parking lot every week, but this summer we only get one shot. We just have a smaller crew this year during the summer.

Em is awake so Ill just post a couple pics from the weekend and maybe blog later.

Third World bathroom right in our country. Oh you are so lucky I did not have a camera with me. The place: Boston Bar. The Husky Station Bathroom! ICK! In Cuba you paid a dollar for a square of toilet paper, but even there the washrooms are nicer. I’ve used outhouses that haven’t even contained this smell. The Husky bathroom is an abomination! We decided to stop there because the gas station across the street makes you buy something to use it. Note: not such a big deal in light of the bathroom quality. If it hadn’t been for my baby wipes and purell in the car I was going to go across the street buy some stupid gum and rewash my hands. A lady took her little girl in there and I was trying to warn her.”Don’t do it.Is it really worth her life.” I’ll get over it. I might need shots, but I’ll get over it.

We had a great weekend in the Vancity. On Saturday we drove down and out trip was really good. Such a nice day and Em did good. Some of organs family from Calgary was out visiting too. I got to meet one of Morgans cousins for the first time. She and I hit it off right away. She has a little girl a bit younger than Emily and so they hit it off too. We left our kidlets with the grandmas and went the the finale of the celebration of light. I love fireworks. It was a great show. I felt like quite the tard though because I kept saying things like “Look Look.”  And “Did you see that. Wow”. Like as if they weren’t watching. Riiight. Geek award right here please.

It was Nanny and E.K.’s birthday party on Sunday. We had such a nice time with all the family out. Emily loves playing with her cousins. At one point there were four little kiddos in the pool. It was fun to watch/stop the hitting. Haha. By the end of the night the lot of them were so tired. Em slept really good. She didnt sleep in, but thats ok with me. We had church anyways.

I got a couple of good Ideas at Grandmas church. I’m hoping some of them will work out for this fall. Might find myself doing some paining again here real soon. I’ve already roped Auntie Go Go into helping me.  Em is waking up. I’ll try an attach some of the pics from the weekend on here later.
